This has been insanely helpful for me lately and I can't remember the source... roughly: "If something goes wrong there are two cards (1) it's no big deal (2) it's the end of the world. Whichever card you pick up first, the customer will pick up the other"

Took a week off from almost everything except family, friends, and skiing. It's been very, very good. The value of turning off the hustle is something I think you can only learn through experience. That said, I'm pumped to turn it back on tomorrow! LFG 🚀

Canua was one of the top products on Product Hunt, thanks to you! We got 424 upvotes and 349 comments, including one by Ryan Hoover - the founder of Product Hunt himself! Your comments and feedback during the launch were fantastic. Thank you so much for the support. 🙏

100 minutes left in the Product Hunt day. What a fun day! But the signups, feedback, bug reports, and feature requests have been the real joy. Seeing something you and your team built helping people is pure magic! ♥️🙌 We'd still love your support for the launch. 🚀

We're running a survey to better understand the way developers work. It takes about 5 minutes to fill out. If you're a developer, we'd love your help! Here's the link -- bit.ly/stashpad-devel We're excited to share our findings with you!

👨🏼‍🍳 I took a break from the launch for dinner. The kids are watching StoryBots on while I'm cooking. 🤔 Then I hear a familiar voice explaining binary code. I stop what I'm doing and go over to check that my ears aren't lying. 👑 Yup, it's .

Launching on is a good way to see the geographic distribution of your team's network. We're definitely in a quiet moment here as morning crosses the middle of the US. Any midwest startup influences want to give us a bump? 🙏🏼

Oh wow, I'd sort of forgotten what a drug launching is... Juggling support conversations, PR reviews, and marketing is so much fun. 🎪

If for nothing else, it's worth launching your product loudly just to feel the support & goodwill of your people and from the startup community at large. 😊 We're only a few hours into a very long day but I'm already glowing & grateful for all the kind words (and signups 😉).

In unpredictable situations, e.g., you work 2 part-time jobs & are barely making ends meet, it's less risky to bet on your abilities and work to improve your prospects. Even though this requires selling some of your future success, in the long term it can be a huge net win. 5/5

In predictable situations, e.g., you have a secure, well-paying job, it's less risky (and often less costly) to take on debt. It's easy to see whether or not you can afford to make the debt repayments ahead of time. As long as you don't suffer a major change, you're good. 4/5

For those that aren't familiar, let's first have a quick look at what equity financing is in the business context. It's simply raising money by selling a portion of your company. You're basically giving someone else rights to some of the future success of your company. 2/5

This is very good advice for individuals as well as businesses. I think everyone is familiar with what debt is, but what does equity financing for individuals look like? 1/5

Was reminded of this today: Debt is best used to finance a *predictable future* Equity is best used to finance an *unpredictable future* The more debt you take on, the more confident you need to be in your ability to predict the future...

The financial, regulatory, and tax systems, however, are constructed for a world that no longer exists, operate around borders that decreasingly have meaning, and unfairly benefit those closest to the legislator's pen.

We now live in a world where we can do the work we love, from the places that make us happiest. Where we have unprecedented access to investment opportunities in new types of assets and the ability to invest in ourselves, our communities, and each other in novel ways.
