Sing sing opened in 1826. Attica opened in 1931. Upstate in 1998. 1977 was Fishkill. Not sure cuomo sr is responsible for prisons too lol. His son sure is closing dozens and dozens.

Everytime to governor orders the closure of prisons we hear this. Over 6 years ago 8 facilities throughout the State were closed and ALL staff was transferred to other facilities. No one lost a job, these communities rely too heavily correctional facilities for their economy.

Some facilities are located in communities that can & shouldn't suffer by closures. The upstate facilities are frequently located in towns where they are close to the largest employer. Either way, if they need replacement or closure, it need happen despite concern for jobs.
