Sign up for the Erraticus Newsletter! Ideas matter, not in and of themselves, but the degree to which they help us navigate existential challenges. We are a town square inviting our many communities to practice a philosophy of neighborliness.

This piece was excellent. I wonder if social technologists will be the Hot New Thing To Fun ROI: a new chance at the world

"The social technologists who engineer a new set of social technologies that provide a plausible, collective solution to radical inadequacy have a realistic shot at reinvigorating a very decayed social fabric and winning big."

"Many don’t remember a time before the internet. Before Instagram, Facebook, Netflix, Amazon. To them, films depicting kids going on wild neighborhood adventures are alien and disconnected. Some are nostalgic for a time they’ve never even experienced." Great piece !

I really appreciate 's insight here on what is needed to have more "totalizing" or thick communities that meaningfully counteract the rise in atomization so many of us experience.

We're more separated than ever. "Setting timers, installing software to control social media use, grayscaling your phone, and making promises to yourself all depend on self-mastery, which is exactly the thing that has been taken from you."

"As the world exists, we observe that agency is in constant flux depending on internal and external factors that we often don’t have control over. We exert influence over the world, and the world in turn exerts influence over us."

The task of the 2020s, to make up for the atomized 2010s, is to engineer tangible, embodied communities in such a way that takes the full weight and spread of the simulacrum’s pull into account.

It took us a year to make it happen but I finally joined on the Podcast to talk about 's origins, pragmatism, and faith transitions (among other things). Looking forward to the episode's release and to future collaborations.

These three postulates define our path for the resolution not only of anxiety, but suffering in general, and the (re)discovery of a transcendent fulfillment.

"Una comunidad saludable- tanto económica como estéticamente- debiera enorgullecerse de incluir construcciones con valor duradero, cuya historia cuente con múltiples propietarios y usuarios. La estructura tributaria de hoy penaliza ese tipo de construcción".

Pushing Georgism into new publications that had previously been happily not thinking about tax policy! ;^) But really, I think this is a good case for Georgists to make, the way that better land policy leads to healthier communities overall, not just economically.

A healthy community—both economically and aesthetically—should pride itself on including buildings with lasting value, whose history includes multiple owners and uses. The current property tax structure penalizes such construction.
