Come July 31, if the emergency UI top-up isn't extended, unemployed workers will effectively get a pay cut of 50-75% overnight. It's increasingly looking like there won't be enough labor demand to hire them all back at that point. https://twitter.com/JStein_WaPo/status/1262857393920192518 …pic.twitter.com/XPBWo69Kah

Yep. Not even close to enough labor demand. Therefore, we can expect people currently receiving those benefits to hoard their cash, thereby lessening the demand impulse pushing the recovery.

this is especially bad considering that many of them haven’t even received their benefits yet because the system is so overloaded.

I lost my job in Illinois last week. I literally haven't been able to file cause both the online and phone application processes cut off before I have a chance to complete them. I've tried both multiple times each day. (Needless to say, I'll keep trying)

This keeps workers from needing to work and hurts our country!

There’s no work, so exactly how people going to return. What’s going to hurt our country is families suffering from financial difficulties and receiving little to no relief. It will not be forever but for now those receiving the boost in unemployment should continue to do so

Depends where you are, most likely. All kinds of economic activity here in AL… traffic today was probably 75% of normal.

Yes and the virus spread down there is enormous. The reason that we wanted to include the $600 per week unemployment was to keep people at home not push them into the workforce so early which is killing people.

The restaurants want to hire people for minimum wage, then they say you’ll get tips !Tips are getting lower all the time !!! When people don’t get many tips they can’t pay their bills on $12.00 per hour here in Phoenix. Let’s face it a lot of restaurants are not going to make it.

Also there have been some businesses that have told their employees they can come back to work, but we can’t pay you what you were making , because we lost money when we had to close !!!
