A playwright, who had a line in his play that didn't make Dr M look good, was monitored by SB for ages. They'd call him for no reason & made him constantly paranoid.

I doubt they're putting that much effort into surveiling private citizens...at the moment. Mostly because they're probably putting a lot more effort into either legit terror threats or...factions attempting to blackmail each other. Fun times.

When dialup first became a thing in Malaysia, of course people were downloading/looking at porn. Telekom Malaysia would call you up if you did, lol. "Yeah we know what you're looking at, stop it." Now the telcos still know but they won't bother calling you about it.

I'm not saying the govt is watching all of us, all the time. Just that it has means to keep tabs (to a limited extent) on the people they want to. M'sia is (thankfully) not at China's level where every Internet interaction & every phone is vulnerable to govt snooping.

I am saying this though - learn to give a shit. About your data, about your right to privacy, about not letting the govt spy on innocent civilians. Keep tabs on criminals, sure. But giving govt unfettered access to our private lives? Hell, no.

Best part was during Najib’s goons were using Israeli software to hack our communications. While pretending Israel was Malaysia’s enemy. I suppose it was ok to sleep with your enemy to screw your own citizens.
