Brutal cold, wind and rain outside. But there are no new beds or efforts to bring people inside offered or announced by the Department of Homelessness. That means that, with shelters closed or full, most people outside are stuck outside, with no options in this awful weather.

The Homeless Outreach Team, who deserve our gratitude and support, are out there doing wellness checks.
But FEMA is literally begging us to bring people inside by offering a 100% reimbursement, yet no word that there will be increased efforts to bring people into hotels.2 replies 16 retweets 101 likesShow this thread -
The solution is obvious: bring people into hotel rooms (!), & expand indoor appropriately distanced facilities. Even outdoor safe sleeping sites haven't been expanded. There's only a winter shelter with 67 beds opened in November, but last we heard that was full.

This is all already within authority of the executive branch. There's no legislation required or possible that could force them to do something literally tonight. They already have the authority to expand, or deploy resources to bring people inside. There's nothing preventing it

Replying to @IdleBrilliance
We passed a law already to require people to be brought inside. It was ignored.
