Thrilled to report that state officials in Michigan (at last) are now taking steps to address the injustice that's prevented foster youth from getting credit for high school classes. Here's my latest story on this issue: nbcnews.com/news/us-news/m

Whoa! I'm not even at Taylor Swift fan. I was just doing this for my kids. I've been in the line all morning. I got to the end. I WAS NEXT and then told me there was an error and BUMPED ME TO THE BACK! What a criminal enterprise this is!

You know you're over-scheduled when every time you open a zoom, you find yourself PRAYING the other party won't show (and these people I sought out to interview...)

Over the past decade, Olivia Coley-Pearson's voter advocacy efforts have landed her in her local jail & led to 2 prosecutions with multiple felony charges. What for? For trying to help voters who struggle to read. The latest from and me:

Once you've read this, ask yourself why this is allowed to happen. Parents are desperate to help the children they love. They have so few decent options when kids are in crisis. Why is that?

Just fixed the broken shower faucet all by my female self despite guidance from the plumbing store guy who made several assumptions about me and asked: “does your husband have an Allen wrench?”

Last year, Louisiana responded to a wave of violence + escapes at juvenile facilities by locking troubled teens in solitary around the clock. Now the state has announced a new strategy: sending teens to Angola, the largest max security prison in the US. nola.com/news/article_c

NEW: When we first heard that Louisiana had quietly opened up a new lockup for teens, where they were shackled, held in solitary w/ no education, we almost didn't believe it. The reality was so much worse. A collab w/ @schwartzapfel + @erinleinhorn + me propublica.org/article/shackl

I sincerely have never read a more shocking story, given the lack of blood or heinous crime. Foster kids don't deserve to be treated this way. I can't figure out how these foster facilities are unable to have any consistent educational standards. Thank you for shining a light. 💝
