Iβm pretty upset that I heard Twitter laid off staff without notice, eliminated all Employee Resource Groups. This is just inhuman. While I believe in free speech and respect Elon Musk as an entrepreneurβ this is beyond me. Iβll be off of Twitter, seeking new web3 friendly Dapps.
Leaving most of web2 social media. Deplatforming is liberation. #web3 #quittingsocialmedia #mentalhealth

Happy one week before Midterms! Here's a report we just put out on 6 networks that Twitter released to outside researchers. 5 of the 6 had a fair bit to say ab American politics, incl the election; they varied bt fake-Dem & fake-Republican perspectives. eipartnership.net/blog/inauthent

Let's remember that @elonmusk charging $8 for premium Twitter experience means Twitter becomes the product again, instead of you.
And if $8 is too much, you're free to remain as the product.

Employees in Twitter just got an email from their bosses saying layoffs are coming tomorrow.
Those who are staying will get a note tomorrow in their work email. Those who are let go will get an email sent to their personal address.
Slot machine-style layoffs.

Pandemic grief, trauma, and going empty will force you to be ruthless in focus, will force you to cut out anything else negative, and block out all unhelpful social media.
My mantra thru the pandemic is 'self-preservation is not selfishness.' Blocking people, filtering feeds, setting boundaries, not answering all DMs, emails, saying "no" to lots of requests for meetings, invitations to speak at events = hard, but better for overall health + sanity.

And prayers to everyone in Seoul and those who have passed from concerts. I find it absolutely non-sensical, insane, and a result of poor planning with lower restrictions and too many young people on drugs being really stupid and inhumane.

I'll be heads down working. I've received requests to be featured in various magazines and blogs, which is so flattering during the pandemic when I've chosen actively to hiberate, rest, recover. Nice to know my work's still relevant, but I'll share from afar with lots of space.

While I receive many invitations throughout the world to speak about tech, I won't be returning to anything unless there is sufficient crowd control, required masks or vaccination status, or outdoor venues for the time being. Anything else, I'd opt for Zoom.

While I'd love to go to a concert, comedy show or bball game, I'd have to be in a contained area for differently abled folks (I did this for a Bruno Mars concert ages ago when it was only $60 a ticket after his second album in SJ) and could see everything and felt comfortable

Returning to events into an endemic, I won't be at any tech conferences above 1000 people max, and mostly I only go to events have been as large as 700 ish in web3 in San Francisco, where there was lots of space.

I am claustrophobic and neurodivergent. I decided when I visited NYC pre-riding sharing I hated paying for taxis, I hated congestion, and could only survive DC as a metropolitan area. Seeing the death from stampedes triggers me. π§΅

I'm still confused. I'm so claustrophobic w/ COVID19. This just seems like everything falls on deaf ears related to the pandemic. I understand social distancing ban was lifted + folks wanted to party, but whenever I keep hearing people dying from attending concert stampedes smhπ€·π»ββοΈ twitter.com/Reuters/status

I heard this yesterday and it was like 10 people. What in the world.

Officials in Seoul said that at least 120 people were dead and 100 others were injured after a stampede in the South Korean capital's popular Itaewon district, where crowds had gathered to celebrate Halloween. nytimes.com/live/2022/10/2

When coding I can't be too productive if I get on twitter, I'll easily go down all metaverse, web3, and AI rabbitholes reading papers and while I might find some useful inspo, it can be a distraction. I think I need a pinterest save button for . #Featurerequest
Why some anti-tech comments in progressive communities or counter-productive litmus tests that subtract AI, tech, web3, or metaverse is stupid.
It's 10x easier to criticize, 10x harder to create construct and have a productive or real convo that results in anything substantial.

#SiliconValley #SF #Berkeley 'is back.' Yup, I never moved or left, so this trending in the #web3 space I think is just trending bc of upcoming conferences. Next week I'll try to make a quick appearance to see a few friends speak possibly but so overloaded rn to finish up work.
I also have lots to say (almost too much about) about anime, sci-fi, AGI, colonization + imperialism. Better saved for when I write two other screenplays and a bunch of code products, but I'll get some threads running later when I can dedicate the bandwidth. Just glad to be back.

Hoping once I finish this, a bunch of content, leftover MOOCs (I think I tallied like 18 over the years that I half finished because there was so much other stuff going on and to learn). Next year's release of content will be a lot of new work with a a complete rebrand.

Thx for inspiring me early on in my metaverse journey, I'll be back soon with some new webAR and GAN stuff, but totally different than what folks are doing you see out there w/ a #web3 edge, I can't wait to show.
