Quickest/easiest fix is to diversify the investor class. There are plenty of capable founders now whose companies don’t get startup capital solely because they don’t pattern match to the essentially arbitrary tastes of investors.

this might be a slightly controversial take but i think one of the slightly more perverse reasons America has such driven entrepreneurs is there is no safety net. For every dollar you make, your life gets better - sometimes crucially so.
