What fields/sectors/skill-sets look dumb or weird right now, but in a few years may look mainstream or much bigger than they are currently? Examples: playing video games competitively, cannabis, or bitcoin in 2012.

Clearly your podcast episode of
@villageglobal Stories with@kmikeym had a real impact on you, and I think there is real potential in this (so much so I have considered pursuing it)

@LambdaSchool is already doing that. Alongside that, we might see the development of personal boards (trusted advisors / mentors that help you with life stuff in exchange for personal equity) Also, I suspect we'll see more of@adventur_es-style PE & more@indievc-style VC. -
VR today is still not a thing, despite the buckets of investment. I think it won't take off til ~2030. AR will be used sooner, and mainly for industrial applications. True VR penetration requires smaller form factor and ways to simulate other sensory experience (touch, smell)

We'll begin to recognize that reading is, in fact, a valuable skill that most folks suck at. In the future, more people invest time and effort learning how to read properly.
@farnamstreet and@fortelabs among others have been championing this view for a while now. -
^ this implies that people will stop using social media as much. I suspect we'll eventually see studies coming out that conclusively show that such sites decrease attention span, memory, quality of thought, etc.

If Elon really expects he'll get to Mars, we need to work on getting biospheres (I take this to mean "engineered environments") right. This has never been done successfully, but here's the biggest failure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosphere_2 …

^ Bc of that, being a geologist / plant biologist / environmental engineer will become a much more lucrative career.

A huge skill today, but even more so in the future, will be the ability condense tons of info and optimize your summary for public consumption.
@david_perell, the folks at@RitholtzWealth, and@morganhousel are examples of this off the top of my head.

Unionizing the global executive workforce. Creating a more structured executive gig economy for operators. Incentivizing via tokenization in the global collective.

Super cool idea! This is a real investment hack right here. Investing in the right person is like investing in an index fund of future inventions and businesses. And if tokenized, patronage-investing would decentralize and empower art & commerce like never before.

Incentivizing people to trade seated spaces in crowded environments - like airlines have successfully done for years when flights are overbooked.

This is on my list of “things that people try to do with every new technology” People tried to do this with the rise of the web, with crypto 1.0...
@LambdaSchool is getting it right, but not in the way most people have typically thought of it.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

sounds like either a modern version of indentured servitude, or the early version of some dystopian future in which every person is valued in dollars if I’m being playful

to me this seems like an idea that looks much better than it actually is, so the converse, evidence: grave yard of failed attempts, Yale TPP, Australia HECS, New Z/Sweden/Ghana. ICL ->my rich uncle->lumni->Upstart Hopefully I'm wrong though.
