  1. See recent critique of billionaires for not solving climate crisis. US Gov't has over 4 trillion dollars (collected via taxes vs created via growth). What's better use for public $ than solving climate change? The more ppl become rich, the more money gov't has to do so.

  8. i think it's a pretty fascinating debate on a practical level but then also on a meta level as an engagement / audience building mechanism. It gets at a lot of themes (work/life balance, self-care/ambition, labor vs capital, US v China)

  17. Cultural war taking place in comedy right now: Critics savaged Chapelle's special; the public loved it. Chapelle used to be a hero for progressives, now he's something of a target. It seems less that he's changed as much as the zeitgeist has.

  18. Why do so many ppl (esp youth) blame capitalism for the world’s ills—+not gov't? Why is capitalism so unpopular as a construct relative to legitimacy of gov't? I hear “capitalism is inherently bad”, but not gov't What pull does gov’t have on ppl that capitalism fails to have?
