#parenting is so exploitative & I’m not sure that there is an ethical or healthy way to support child stars in the entertainment industries. -
Taylor Swift’s obsession w/ being good is a hard wired thing that all child stars seem to have. I didn’t realize how weird it was that I sought approval & wanted to please adults so implicitly as a kid until my friend said her nieces could never take direction from a director.

You might hate her, but we all have those traits to some degree. They’re part of being human evolution—getting people to like you is key to infant survival. Watching her explore this—at what? 30?—sounds fascinating. She’s brave to cop to it.
