He returned to ISAS ABQ this summer to give a talk explaining the racist history of the term, yet hardly anybody is mentioning his name, other people like Karen Jolly, who have done so to center themselves and rewrite their own histories of opposition to his critique.

Once again, people of color speak difficult truths, receive consequences for years, and then white people sweep in once it’s become much safer to speak and congratulate each other for “being brave,” while giving token acknowledgements to, at best, one person of color.

This all sounds frightfully familiar to a conversation sff the genre keeps having and all the systemic amnesia over "no one has ever said this before" happening there.
