Since then, because she spoke up about white supremacists and the issue of ISAS's name during a conference presentation in Washington, she has received death threats. #MedievalTwitter

and now someone is pretending to be her on the open letter started by
@ETreharne , in an attempt to frame Dr. Rambaran-Olm as faking her race (and that of her supporters).#MedievalTwitterShow this thread -
Meanwhile, with almost no exceptions, the ISAS board has been silent and not responded to her and other scholars' questions and concern. A vote about the name and about a resolution for more "demographic representation" has been forwarded to the members.

No reference has been made to the death threats against a WOC or to the board's failure to take action on sexual harassment (ISAS is perhaps the *only* major medieval conference to have no sexual harassment policy).

Board members like Damien Fleming (
@FW_Medieval ) who have built online reputations as "cool" and "woke" professors are now silent. The majority of support has come from MOC and ECRs. I. Am. SO. Disappointed. WHERE IS THE BOARD?#MedievalTwitterShow this thread - End of conversation

I am slow to this because ill. Like
@FW_Medieval I will try to write up my thoughts in a longer (and more coherent) fashion but in brief: Dr Rambaran-Olm was a huge asset to the board and I am sorry that she has resigned though I understand her reasons. /1 -
ISAS as a whole and the board in particular need to do more to deal with systemic problems. Sexual harassment is unacceptable and we need proper polices and procedures. Death threats are unacceptable. /2
