Update: it’s all resolved! There’s research money to cover it, thanks to

Fun story: I went on a tour of the library when I got here (which did not mention these fees), and the librarian running it complained that late fines are too low. She felt that penalties should be SEVERE to ensure people obeyed the rules. So, I should have known. :-p

@tpl extra hard tonight. Late fees are capped at $14 and they don't charge us per book ordered?? WHERE DO YOU LIVE -
Germany. I went on a tour of the library (which did not mention these fees) and the librarian giving the tour complained that late fines were too low. She felt that only a severe penalty would ensure patrons complied. O.o
