    Me, picking up holds at library: Holds plz! Librarian: You know you have €102,50 in fines, right? Me: ...wut Lib: €102,50 in fines. From ordering books and late fees Me: !!!! Lib: It costs €1,50 per book or article when you order them, even if they don't arrive Me: !!!!!!!!!!!

        Me: I've been ordering books FOR A YEAR and nobody has mentioned these fines. Librarian: Oh we don't have to tell you. It's on your receipt when you return books. Me, who returns books w/o getting a receipt: ..... Librarian: We tell you once you hit €250 Me: !?!?!!

        Me: But you don't charge me for articles I request, do you? Librarian: Of course we do! €1,50 per article! Me: ........ Librarian: But you don't need to pay it today. Do you want the three holds waiting for you? You're charged for them even if you don't pick them up. Me: ....yes

        Fun story: I went on a tour of the library when I got here (which did not mention these fees), and the librarian running it complained that late fines are too low. She felt that penalties should be SEVERE to ensure people obeyed the rules. So, I should have known. :-p

        Holy shit. I'm hugging Toronto Public Library @tpl extra hard tonight. Late fees are capped at $14 and they don't charge us per book ordered?? WHERE DO YOU LIVE
