I guess that’s going to blow my cover wrt my self-reported “about 5 drinks a week.”

Good thing I pay all my bills on time, am a size four, and definitely don't pay cash for booze and drugs. Hear that, *health insurer*?

US health insurers are not concerned about the health and well-being of Americans, and seek to disqualify any and all that they can from coverage. Our healthcare system is sick.

We need privacy laws
-
Lots of this is publicly available information though.
-
Hence the need for privacy laws?
-
Like, “ I opt out of companies sharing data about me without my consent” data privacy laws
-
Which has nothing to do with lots of the publicly available information referenced in the article (i.e. marriage/divorce records, information posted to social media, arrest records, home ownership information, the responses to phone surveys, etc.)
-
Sure, privacy laws would affect some of this (i.e. some of your purchasing habits would be harder to reveal, or website traffic), but political parties manage to create very accurate voter profiles simply on the basis of what you share with the world on social media.
-
Social media should not be able to share that information without my consent
-
You’re publishing that information out to the world. That’s the “social” in “social media”. And if you’ve read any of the Terms of Agreement, you often have given your consent.

The sad part is this is just one of “the various tactics the health insurance industry uses to maximize its profits” rather than to maximize the quality of the care provided.

... Likely any personal health data you've shared with your "employee wellness" plan...
-
And that is why I have never signed up or done anything with an employee wellness plan. I gladly pay more in insurance costs to not give them my data.

Universal Health Care. It's time. Put the insurance companies out of business and out of our lives.
-
you don't think the government won't do the same thing? "This is public money and you are abusing it with your habits."
