I was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety back in 2015 and was on Paxil which caused me so many issues. It pretty much turned me into a zombie with literally no emotions. In 2018 I decided that I've had enough and emailed my doctor about switching my medication. (cont)https://twitter.com/HavokRose/status/1278816997107625986 …

After that email I sent, I decided to try a medication that my doctor warned me about since they tend to give it to patients who struggle with insomnia and appetite issues, which were also two things I strongly struggled with too. Ever since then, I've been so much better.

It's called Remeron and I take two 15mg pills a night before bed, which after an hour or so feels like I'm drunk af and just so HUNGRY. Cereal (such as Lucky Charms) is like a drug, it seriously hits differently when I'm in this drowsy high phase!

Of course, a side effect to that increased appetite is weight gain. I've put on over 30 pounds since I switched to Remeron without trying or anything. It's real, and honestly doesn't bother me one bit.

If the cost of feeling joy and happiness means being a big boi then I'll take it. This is the only medication that has actually made me FEEL excellent most days and it forces me to not skip meals (since I tend to starve myself when I'm under lots of stress).

Also, I can confirm that my blood test results were in the standard range last time I got checked, so I'm doing okay! The only downside to these pills is how drowsy it makes me feel. If I don't set an alarm to wake me up, I can sleep for 13+ hours a day.

That all said, I highly recommend talking to your doctor/therapist to find what works best for YOU. There are so many options out there and it may take a while to find the exact one that works in your favor, but you will find it eventually!

I was put in beta blockers for anxiety recently(Autism Spectrum w/ unrelated medical issues that have made life hell for the past 6 years) and holy fuck I wish that had happened sooner. Very thankful for the Autism Specialist that prescribed them.

Nice! I'm glad they're working for ya, and also same here -- I wish I knew about the current stuff I'm on now 5 years ago, definitely would have helped back then, but luckily that's all in the past now and I can focus on the future!

Thanks :) It's awesome to hear you've found something that works and helps. There can be stigma around meds, but at the end of the day they're a tool like any other. Gotta respect it and use it properly And humans are an inherently tool using species, it's how we even got here ;)
