Once we'd arrive in Anchorage the first thing we would do is go to WAL MART. We didn't have one back at home so it was always so exciting. We would also go to the mall and eat Arby's because we also didn't have those at home.

I wasn't a huge fan of Anchorage honestly. It was a bigger city than I was used to but nothing about it appealed to me. I remember there was a comic shop at the mall that had manga which I thought was cool. We also didn't have anything like that back at home

The main attraction was staying at the "Fam Cam" on the Air Force Base. This is where my favorite memories come from. My dad would pop up the tent and we'd get our tiny TV hooked up to the SNES. I remember walking about here looking for bugs and animalspic.twitter.com/YyrLT19Adg

During the day we would drive South and visit some beautiful locations. One was Beluga Point which was just a rock that you can stand on. You could watch the whales migrating pretty close bypic.twitter.com/dbj9o5QbtC

We'd also visit local fishing towns Seward and Valdez. There wasn't shit to do there, but I remember the smell of good food and the ocean mixing in the air. Everything there seemed so peaceful and quiet to me. Even as a kid, the quiet was very alluring.pic.twitter.com/AhTcjiZDjy

It would always rain. I remember walking around camp by myself in the rain. It's why I love the rain to this day. For some reason the elements came together for me. It felt like one of the only things that put my ADHD mind to rest. Probably the only time I felt at peace as a kid.

Mfw realizing at 30 years old how much nicer these trips would be at our older ages now rather than being 8 years old and having better technology + cameras to take photos and explore the wild without parents monitoring our every movepic.twitter.com/inrZ7WbPAV

I still remember getting really shitty digital cameras and opened them at Seward to take pictures of sea lions
