Well, I dunno what to tell you
I want the same, that's why I'm building Modulz.
Content reflow and all the other great things discussed in this thread will never ever happen in vector-based drawing tools.

You cannot map unconstrained input to constrained output. It is simply not possible. It's not a question of time or funding or waiting for some genius to figure it out. We have to compromise and decide which is more valuable.

Is it more valuable that you can drag rectangles anywhere you want until your heart's content? Or is it more valuable that your content reflows, your components are stateful and your prototype is interactive. We cannot have both. Forget it.

My ideal design tool would allow both freeform rectanglar chaos and strict flexbox/grid layout. You can designate a “sketch”
layer where nothing is restricted and allows shit to be positioned anywhere. Then use that as your template to build in flexbox/grid, if you choose.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

That's what Framer do with Stacks. But it introduces a ton of new problems. The benefit is not worth it imo. I think it's better to invest in making box model layout extremely fast and intuitive.

If I’m forced into the box model, it has to be extremely fast and intuitive. On one hand, I would prefer to be forced into the constraints of the browser. But on the other, sometimes we need to lay shit out without having the think about that stuff. It’s a tough problem.

So when Eric says it, you agree, but when I've been saying the exact same thing all this time, I get a bollocking... Naah, that's cool bro...pic.twitter.com/pHdkIgTbgp

It was hardly a bollocking now, come on...
Eric just said it's a "tough problem", which it is.
You've made many false claims about Modulz yet you've never even tried it. You've no idea how long anything takes in Modulz.
I'm just trying to encourage more open-mindedness.

First up, no worries, I was jesting.
But I DID say that I wanted the best of both worlds, which is what Eric said. Also curious to know what are the “many false claims about Modulz” I’ve made?

I *AM* trying, I promise. The brevity of Twitter responses just makes everything sound so blunt and terse.
I do love what Colm is doing with Modulz. Even if it’s not 100% fulfilling my needs, its success will encourage others to emulate and adapt it to fit what ARE my needs.0 replies 0 retweets 2 likesThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
