Apple is top funder of a lobby group that says it represents small devs.
It opposes @amyklobuchar’s American Innovation & Choice Online Act, which would have stopped app stores from preferring their own products at the expense of competitors! https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2022/09/apple-is-top-funder-of-lobby-group-that-says-it-represents-small-developers/…
Are there any Bluetooth headsets that can connect to 2 devices and receive an audio stream from both simultaneously? My use case - connect to laptop on a zoom call, also overlay spoken audible notifications from my Android phone.
"I don't hear our users asking that we put a lot of energy" into RCS, says Tim Cook in response to a question at Code. "I would love to convert you to an iPhone."
"I can't send my mom certain videos," says the questioner.
"Buy your mom an iPhone," says Tim.
Terraform Mars by launching 1.5bn smartphone-like solar sail satellites to orbit Mars and reflect enough light to warm atmostphere by 2C, causing enough regolith to melt to trigger a run-away greenhouse effect. Missed that strategy in Red Mars!
This is just so nice. It's a video of Maestro, an open source UI automation tool built & released by @mobile__dev. This is what it takes to build mobile automation for e.g. launching Twitter:
Also, @mobile_dev just released User Flows based on Maestro: https://blog.mobile.dev/user-flows-on-mobile-dev-60c230a3427e…
Next year, I'll be going back to Y Combinator as President and CEO.
It's a one in ten billion lifetimes kind of opportunity— YC gave me my start, and I'm deeply grateful to the community.
Daily reminder to not priortize all feature requests with the same weight. Especially from HN 😂 (fyi I love the n900 as an idea but not as a real thing that people should use in 2022)

I'm dreaming of a Beeper chat-only device for hackers! Maybe use @sqfmi Franky (unit on right) which has same e-paper display as Pebble. Could change it to a Blackberry keyboard ala @arturo182 Keyboard featherwing twitter.com/sqfmi/status/1…
This defeats the purpose of the entire intent system on Android. Only Google Messages (and Samsung Messages) support RCS right now. To support it from Beeper, we would have to become an entire RCS system, presumably with the carrier-style backend.
We’re not asking Apple to make iMessage available on Android. We’re asking Apple to support the industry standard for modern messaging (RCS) in iMessage, just as they support the older SMS / MMS standards.
really thinks that RCS is a 'modern industry standard' - it's an archaic and ridiculously complex thing from 2007, full of closed source bits, confusing UX... http://android.com/get-the-message cc
. All chat channels in one app. Yes it improved my workflow, but it — literally — made me a better human. I used to ghost on friends simply because I where they texted me until it got too awkward to reply. No more. Thank you, Beeper!
GrapheneOS was ridiculously easy to install and appears to work great. Ironically I’ve installed a bunch of Google apps back onto the device 😂 (which all work, even gcam and gpay). The web loader was incredibly smooth. Billion times easier than twrp etc. Inspirational project!
City planets covered with skyscrapers are common in science fiction, but where are the suburb planets?
