Why did Windows 10 rename my profile folder from "ericlaw" to "ericlaw.000" and how do I fix it?
Sadly, this works until you try to launch any application (e.g. Outlook) that wrote the .000 path into persistent storage, at which point you get errors. #sigh

Storage that is not part of the registry?
-
Either. The .000 suffixed value is sprinkled across dozens or hundreds of registry keys.

Well, that’s easy – create a 2nd admin, load the other user’s hive, replace them all, then unload the hive again?
-
"Replace them all" how, specifically?
-
By exporting the entire loaded hive to a .REG file, then using Notepad’s Search and Replace, then reimporting the export? Just an idea.

I think it very unlikely that this would work (ACLs, for instance).

Clone your computer and give it a try in a VM, maybe
