Would be nice if Telerik updated Fiddler to use that to eliminate the need for custom root certs.

My understanding is that feature only works for WinINET and lots of apps don't use it for HTTPS (Firefox is one, I believe). FF just reads proxy settings and does its own thing.

Nah, there are many other limitations with it. Can't make modifications, for one. Can only see the content as WinInet parses it. Etc In Fiddler 1.x (before mitm was possible), there was an RPASpy extension that used WinINET's CompuServe interface to spy on HTTPS headers.

This is how the F12 tools do it. Requires you to be in some interesting groups though, to access it, or some admin elevation.
