Without looking or calculating, just intuitively, what % of the pieces of a 500-piece puzzle do you guess are edge pieces?

Answer... yes, depends on shape, but for average puzzle: ~ 88 of 500, so 17.6% The edge (surface area) is larger than most of us would guess.

A straight line puzzle would be 100% A perfectly circular puzzle would be 15.9% So not sure what’s an average puzzle shape but even a square is 17.9% and rectangles would tend to higher percentages
