"Many environmental organizations do not do the work needed to provide communities of color access without the added element of trauma...they have failed to acknowledge the trauma an environmental movement built on white supremacist ideals causes people of color."

  6. Weather forecasting is one of the most astounding achievements in all of human history. Really excited to call myself a meteorologist on days like this. We understand our atmosphere, and the consequences of our actions that affect it, in unprecedented detail. 🌍🌦️🛰️

  7. Living out your values is a struggle. It’s ok to fail, we all do. Ask for help, read more, talk with folks who are different than you, listen — and then do better. We are all in this together. Climate change makes this moment in history so beautifully interdependent. Embrace it.

  8. The only thing that matters — literally the only thing that matters — is how we treat each other. We need to proactively uphold our vision for a radically different, radically better world that works for everyone in our daily actions. Every day.

  9. After watching the full , I am deeply disappointed. We hear from no women of color at all. We must do better. There are so many stories of a better future that are being erased and silenced, and we need to hear them. Watch for yourself:

So, happy fathers day to everyone — if you’re a father or not. We’re all helping a new world come into being that’s incredible and transformative and will change everything about ourselves. We’re doing this together and I’m so thankful for every turn of this rollercoaster.

You don’t need to be a parent to understand this. All of us love someone or something so incredibly much that no words could ever describe the complexity of it.

Never mind the fact that my day job requires me to emotionally immerse myself in the literal collapse of human civilization and fight a counter-current of denial and despair. I’m living all of that battle every day in my successes and failures as a parent.

All the while I’m thinking: I really want to share this experience with another adult. There’s a special kind of loneliness that happens when you’re experiencing milestones on your own, over and over. There’s a special kind of joy and pride knowing I’m doing it (mostly) myself.

Like, last night was my oldest's first day at swimming lessons. He was terrified and so excited at the same time and I felt all that right along with him. It was such a special night.

I think as an autistic dad and now as a single dad in a relatively new city, I may navigating a little bit of a unique path that’s making this journey especially emotionally intense. Childhood is a fucking rollercoaster ride, and I’m seeing it all again, through fresh eyes.

No one told me when I became a parent how emotionally demanding it would be every single second of every single day. And in very unexpected ways.

Know that you're not alone. I feel scared all the time. Honestly, I don't want to ever be able to face something as dangerous as climate change without any fear. Sometimes that fear puts me out of commission for a bit. And that's okay. Forgive yourself.
