    I’m in an industry where I deal with a lot of smug and arrogant people. But behind the overconfident visage of these folks is deep insecurity, and maybe a rough childhood. And that makes me try to love these people more. Or at least be empathetic.

    The other day, I had a call w/. He asked me what got me from a poor girl to a tech exec/investor. Hadn't really thought of it until then. By the end of the convo, we concluded that it was wanting to give my family a better life, the value of persistence, + self-advocacy.

    Replying ‘unsubscribe’ to a founder might be the coldest rejection tactic I’ve ever heard.

    Etiquette for VCs - if you receive a cold email from a founder, don’t just respond - “unsubscribe” to a personalized message. A better way to decline is “Thank you. It’s not a fit”. The best way is to also add the reason.
