Prior to the meeting happening now, where the King County Council will consider legislation removing from all leadership roles, the county's employment committee met in a long executive session about Lambert's mailer targeting her colleague.

Lambert is now asking to just resign from her leadership roles. "This once again proves that I care about this institution and that we get back to focusing on the business of this county." Then she accuses her colleagues of political opportunism.

Lambert says her colleague wants to focus on "Seattle-centric ideas" and how people "don't want this to spread to their communities. ... 4I am not going to allow one poorly depicted picture to define who I am." Again, the mailer came directly from Lambert's campaign.

Lambert then suggested that everyone makes lapses in judgment sometimes, and that this is why people don't go into politics—because their "entire lives" will be subject to scrutiny.

Lambert appeared wholly unapologetic for the mailer, which she minimized and said had nothing to do with race and everything to do with her colleagues wanting to harm her reelection chances.

A somewhat technical (but impactful) change would also eliminate the county's community health and human services committee, which Lambert chairs, and move its duties into a new law, justice, health and human services committee.

Prior to the vote, Lambert calls the motion "retribution" and reiterates, "I don't believe that one insensitive item should take away a person's reputation, and I hope that for everyone who's involved in politics that you understand what's going on."

If she gets reelected, she's literally going to have nothing to do. I really hope this doesn't become the case.
