For no particular reason, except that a really awful group of people are saying foolish things online about color blindness, here’s a thread on the topic.

The Democrat perceived to be most liberal in this era (McGovern) suffered a 49-state blowout in 1972; on the other hand, the Democrat perceived to be most moderate (Carter) suffered a 45-state blowout in 1980 to the GOP candidate perceived to be most conservative (Reagan). (5)

A crowd on this site spends 49% of its time warning that intentions are too inscrutable to attribute to others ("You can't know if P is racist") & 49% doing just that ("P is only pretending to be queer"). The rest is spent lamenting that no one cares about modus tollens anymore.

I actually think 44% is at a pretty sweet spot. The maximum usefulness of research is not at 100% correct hypotheses, but reducing uncertainty at its maximum point, which is 50:50. You don't want to research either sure shots or no-chancers. 50% x 90% power = 45%.

Publication bias is real: 44% of registered reports confirm the authors' hypothesis; 96% of standard reports confirm the authors' hypothesis. That 44% should increase over time as more RRs debias the literature and help scholars form better hypotheses.

Romney is about to be attacked harder than any Republican has since Trump took office. This kind of authoritarian rule over the party only works if dissent is immediately crushed.

This is so damning. There is no reason to believe Sherrod Brown is not telling the truth here.

It's clear by so many of its' hosts actions that Chapo is really just about white supremacy, misogyny, and rank hatred of the poor, reskinned with some vaguely progressive rhetoric. Actual progressives wouldn't risk people's lives to get their way.

The idea of overlooking some light treason to enable an infrastructure project is literally the plot of Arrested Development. NY Times op-eds are being penned with the ethical framework of George Bluth Sr.

I will just say that my Labrador’s bed-adjacent fecal fiasco coincided roughly with news that Donald Trump clinched the 2020 Iowa Republican caucuses.

Jesus. My Labrador just had explosive diarrhea next to my bed. Any hot takes about what this means for the Iowa caucuses?

I’m not sure the GOP has thought through their argument that it’s *completely* fine for presidential candidates to seek help from foreign governments, when the vast majority of foreign governments don’t like or trust the current GOP president who’s up for re-election this fall.

My daughter was playing with our Kindle and now I get email saying there's a problem processing my payment for: "Bad Samaritans: The Myth of Free Trade and the Secret History of Capitalism." I'd be flushed with pride if she weren't 6 and mostly into unicorns.
