2.5+ years later: everything that was said about how the Coordinator would be removed has been totally changed, the consensus algo thrown out the window, IOTA Foundation releases a 2020 update on a *whitepaper* that describes a *potential* transition plan for how to remove it

After many years of cryptocurrency research, my conclusion is that even if you become a top 1% researcher in this space, there's still so much you don't know, don't understand or just haven't learned the true nuances of, and you're still completely wrong about almost everything.

Love such clear and concise style! If you know other blockchain blogs or publications which can explain complex stuff in simple terms without losing the key ideas, feel free to recommend

There are far better protocols I've play around with that could be built on Bitcoin but overcoming the limited op code set requires adding additional complexity to the protocol. This increases the cost to build and the probability of bugs. /2

Why didn't you opt for trust-minimisation? An approach like Uniswap's, where you deploy an upgraded contract and people have to migrate over to it, is much safer than allowing your team to swap out all code on the contract at any time.

I wouldn't even call this a black swan. This is completely possible, certainly not the kind of risk you'd want to neglect. Kinda spooky tbh.

So... perhaps it's in Ethereum participants best interest to stop trying to decentralize your thing and start re-centralizing everything. You can't really afford to be in disagreement with each other.

Imagine if Ethereum 1.x PoW crowd and 2.0 Sharding crowd can't get along. ETH1.x and ETH2.0 price splits 50/50. Every ETH-collateralized position gets liquidated on *both* chains. Every asset-backed token (USDC etc.) goes to zero on atleast 1 chain. All Dai's gone. DeFi gone.

I loved this talk from my friend Carin. "I bet... that right at this moment there is someone on the far end of the malicious, antisocial, sociopathic, spectrum who is sitting down and *peacefully* following the rules of Tetris." A great high-level take on enforcement via code.

Definitely possible. We wanted it for satellite payments even but engineering bandwidth is sadly a thing 🥺 let's make it happen!

BIP47 Payment Codes (PayNyms) seem like the closest contemporary implementation of the stealth address concept, but the set-up phase these require ruins the fun for me. Becomes hard to imagine a widely adopted solution.

I'm doing some research on stealth addresses in Bitcoin, trying to figure out what ever happened to them. Came across this tweet that links to some code that turned out to be malware. Always be careful. Btw, what *did* happen to stealth addresses?
