Well I did it. I talked to my kid about kids who are starving when he wasn’t eating his dinner. It came out before I knew what I was saying. I’ve joined the ranks of parents in humanity through the ages trying to get toddlers to eat.

He’s been an excellent and non-picky eater until recently. Suddenly, last month or so he’s super picky. Refuses to try new things. Is creative with his excuses about why he doesn’t want to eat. It’s weirdly exasperating. Any tips from parents out there?

It's a phase, and it could just be his tastes are evolving. Thing to remember is it's ok to have that conversation - cause it's true! - but also with a light touch because it can make eating a stressful routine which can backfire Part of it is just finding healthy foods he likes

I’ve resorted to telling my kid the elf on the shelf is watching and if she doesn’t eat her dinner Santa’s going to find out. Sort of jokingly but it gets her attention.
