Hey #gameaudio people -- curious what people's opinions are around iconography around solo and mute buttons. Discussion here is around localization and clarity. S & M might work, but we'd prefer some iconography that works across localizations. Solo in particular is hard.

We've reviewed what's out there and most seem to just use S and M -- Apple, interestingly uses headphones for S and a speaker w/ x for mute. I feel like headphones might cause confusion since we have "binaural"/headphone audio modes. Speaker icons w/ lines might imply volume.

I've always been a fan of a Speaker Icon...when you click it, or when it is in mute state the same Icon just gets a single line slash through it.

Yeah I think if we want an icon... classic speaker emanating audio lines... can’t go wrong. Also the universal non-symbol.

I'll tag along on the speaker icon with and without a slash idea. I also like seeing a color change to let me know something's in solo or mute mode. Doesn't conflict with languages and doesn't make me think of binaural or anything other than simply sound/no sound.
