The problem with quitting caffeine: When you wake up tired, and your only choice is to accept that you are tired, and will be tired for all of eternity, and will never enter the land of the awake and productive ever again.

I've read it's best to drink coffee once you are digesting food rather than during/before food so the caffeine won't go in your bloodstream unhinged, minimizing cortisol spikes. There are also times of the day during which your body naturally produces cortisol. Maybe this helps?
