COP 27 has ended. All may not be perfect, especially on the mitigation front. However, progress made on climate adaptation needs to be applauded. The “loss and damage" fund for vulnerable countries is not only necessary but timely. The fund is indeed a key win of COP 27.

Africa's biggest missed opportunity is its solar energy potential. It has 60% of the world's best solar resources, but only 1% of solar generation capacity. The initial capital investment may be huge but strong political will can set the ball rolling.
