If the argument is that the ground staff at those airports are colluding, would then need to ban all direct flights. They'd thwart your ban.

I've not yet seen even a flimsy argument why terrorists can't fly via Frankfurt, or why Kindle reader more dangerous than Iphone 6S Plus...

If there is a threat, you need a much, much wider, universal ban—and explain why Ipads & Kindles but not phablets.https://twitter.com/marquardta/status/844187325609459712 …

I believe they may be implying people smuggling components, assembling in bathroom. Again, would need universal ban. https://twitter.com/drjohnhorgan/status/844212317806125057 …

Here's the FAA "safety alert" from last year. Now, these batteries will all go into cargo area, unattended. https://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/airline_operators/airline_safety/safo/all_safos/media/2015/safo15010.pdf …pic.twitter.com/d5uVC83Vqw

Most charitable reading is there is a credible threat of assembling a bomb out of lithium ion + laptop components—requiring universal ban.

Also, a kindle e-reader has a 750 mAh battery. An iPhone 7s Plus has a 2900 mAh battery. The former is banned, the latter is not.
