Under theory (e) the use of twitter to organize and conceptualize newspaper stories & online essays collaboratively becomes problematic because it's not just that the essays can only say essay things, but in fact they can only say the intersection of essay & twitter ideas.
Oh, I think you're right about that. I'm just being deliberately impishly pedantic about wording while reminding people to account for medium effects on message transmission :P
