  1. The SHS Book Club meets on Friday, February 21st during lunch periods. This month's book is "The Field Guide to the North American Teenager" by . Be sure to sign up at the Media Center or on the Media Center website.

    Juniors participated in an in-class Escape Room which required students to decode clues around the room while also reading the Gettysburg Address and learning important facts about it. Only a few escaped!

    German teacher, Mrs. Potter, is having her students read books to learn the language. German 1 students are reading "Brandon Brown will einen Hund" & German 2 students are reading "Er traumt von Amerika!", a bio about Arnold . Awesome!

    Pick of the Week: Spanish teacher, Ms. Sansavera picks "Before We Were Yours" . It's hist. fiction, set in the 30s, & is about the kidnapping of poor kids to be sold to the wealthy for profit. "It's ❤️-wrenching & unbelievable that this was reality."

    Pick of the Week: Media AV Asst, Mrs. Merrill, picks "Sometimes I Lie" . The thriller follows Amber who is in the hospital, unable to move or speak but doesn't know why. "It keeps you in suspense & when you think you figured it out, guess again!"

    Pick of the Week: Seniors Sam & Garret pick "The Coffee Bean" by & , a fable about a HS football player who learns to be a coffee bean & transform during a challenge rather than harden/soften. "It's easy to read & has a relatable message"

  18. Pick of the Week: Social Studies teacher, Mr. Phelps picks "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller. It encourages us to question expectations of a society that values groupthink. "This books shows that disagreeing with the majority doesn't mean you are the crazy one."

  20. After reading and analyzing William Cullen Bryant's poem "Thanatopsis", Mr. Jenkins' English 11 classes created mosaics as either literal or metaphorical interpretations of the poem. They had to write and speak about their mosaics.
