At this point, almost every dharma teacher I have ever looked up to or sought instruction from has been implicated in a sexual misconduct scandal. Sometimes I wonder why I bother going on with Buddhism at all.

The title is misleading. Yes, he broke a precept. That is not what most people think of when they think "sexual misconduct".

Yes having an affair, which I would see as between him and his wife, is very different than sleeping with students or using his position as a Teacher inappropriately. I have a hard time understanding why they felt they needed to make it public.

He didn’t have the typical affair with one other person, which is a grave but common misbehavior. Culadasa had affairs with as many as ten women, including prostitutes. This behavior speaks of arrogance, entitlement and patriarchal privilege.

Allegedly. He's also a senior citizen recent cancer survivor so I'm kind of shocked if it is actually true.
