When I used distortion pedals (don't much anymore) my favorite was the Rat pedal (ProCo). Cheap, simple, black, 3 dial controls (dist. filter vol.), sound = pure grunge. Now more into a soul-jazz sound. Currently using a TC Electronics Dark Matter when I want a fat solo.
