“The police and the state have a callousness towards the lives of those on the frontline of environmental causes and I hope this is a wake-up call to those who didn’t know that." -

This is making me emotional and it is so special that even if she didn't get to live a full life as her gender, she gets to be buried and remembered as her gender, and that is something so many trans people don't even get. I'm very proud of her. https://twitter.com/sivomengro/status/1621728599949688834…
"Twitter is a vital means of connection for many disabled people...For some of us, it will be downright dangerous without access to the community networks of support and trust we’ve spent years building."
More from
believe in aac users' inherent competence as disabled humans, not just the theoretical potential our communication may someday appear more abled-normative!
Only people with intellectual disabilities can “reclaim” the R word and as far as I can tell, there is zero interest in doing that. Advocates with intellectual disabilities have spent years purging that particular slur from federal and state law.
Hey, uh...EDS twitter, hypermobile twitter, #NEISvoid and all others it applies for...I have a weird question.
Do you have problems keeping ear buds secure? Like, even when you know your ears are clean and despite trying many different brands and sizes, do they always fall out?
Adults also tend to assume that anything a child does that inconveniences or annoys them is deliberate "bad behavior" intended to make their life harder.
Thank you!
I’ve had to call in “leftist” psychiatrists on here using literal sanist slurs & they don’t listen bc as usual if you’re mentally ill your judgement is worth nothing to many HCPs https://twitter.com/DariusAGreen/status/1621666817428148224…
Journalists, assertions like the ones Lutz makes about how the ND movement denies the realities of people like her son can be fact-checked. And they should be.
I am endlessly baffled as to why statements like hers are given automatic credibility. https://twitter.com/shannonrosa/status/1619442800214577155…
Also, just a note but: "I'm neurodivergent and I'm fine using this ableist word as an insult toward people I don't like" is not the same as reclaiming a slur.

Fifteen-year old Claudette Colvin got arrested in 1955 for refusing to give up her bus seat for a White woman. Her act of defiance would inspire Rosa Parks to do the same nine months later.
Thank you, Claudette.❤️✊🏾#ResistanceRoots
You have got to have a reconstruction of the whole society, a revolution of values… We are not interested in being integrated into this value structure. Power must be relocated, a radical redistribution of power must take place.” 2/2
Martin Luther King Jr. on Capitalism:
“Something is wrong with capitalism. For years I labored with the idea of reforming the existing institutions of society through a little change here and little change there…but now I feel quite differently. 1/2
if you get sick with covid and recover from the acute infections (ie test negative) i am BEGGING you to continue resting, as much as you're financially able, for far longer than you think you need to
Friendly reminder this Black History Month that Black disabled people are Black too.
No, we shouldn't have to hide our disabilities to be considered Black. We aren't lesser nor do we make Black people look bad. Ableism should have no place in the Black community.

Being the only Black person in certain rooms is an enlightening, terrifying nightmare I yearn to never repeat.
I’ve never wanted to be the only one anywhere.
It makes my skin feel like shards of glass.
What's great about knowing I'm autistic is
many things that I thought were normal for everyone
But isn't?
No longer makes me feel wrong, bad or freakish.
My neurologist who had been treating me for #LongCovid just kicked me back to the long COVID clinic that had told me to see my neurologist. I can't work and I can't find someone to help me. Do you know a #neurologist#Neurology in #nyc to help? I also can't stop crying.
We are seeing in real time therapists maintain, uphold, and define reality for their patients/clients based on the white supremacist, eugenics-oriented status quo. It should be terrifying to all of us, mostly because of the power dynamic inherent in these spaces. https://twitter.com/pxnzischemes/status/1621530843930820608…
What “experts” are saying: “People are doing so much better off of opioids. Pain is better. People are happier.” What my messages say daily: “I was stable for 20 yrs on Morphine. They took it away. Now I can’t leave the house and I consider suicide.” The disconnect is huge.
(I had to stop doctors from trying to make my kid interpret way the hell too many times. And sometimes really had to get in their faces about it. Absolutely terrible that it’s still an issue this many decades after the ADA made it illegal.)
Huge problem. (Not helped by a certain award-winning movie indicating that it was perfectly normal and legal, if a bit cringey, for a CODA to interpret for her deaf parents at the doctor.) I hope this suit is big enough to put medical folks on notice and stop it once and for all. https://twitter.com/thedailymoth/status/1621651174108659712…
I hate the born this way attitude. Not that some/most people aren’t born queer, but imo it’s a barrier to queer liberation and just trying to be palatable to non queer people.
