ATF: "This rule is effective the date it is published in the Federal Register. Any weapons with “stabilizing braces” or similar attachments that constitute rifles under the NFA must be registered no later than 120 days after date of publication in the Federal Register"

"...where the Department is overruling ATF’s previous classification letters, possessors of the firearms equipped with 'stabilizing braces' that were at issue in those letters may also be in possession of unregistered NFA firearms." We told you they were legal, but uh, SURPRISE!

"Consequently, many parties in possession of weapon and 'brace' combinations that ATF did not specifically classify in the past as being subject to the NFA may have been violating the NFA by possessing an unregistered rifle with a barrel of less than 16 inches." What a joke.

ATF assesses 13,210 small businesses and 1.4 million gun owners will be impacted by today's rule against pistol braces. Braced firearms are almost always used by law-abiding citizens. A ridiculous change that does nothing to stop crime and everything to punish regular Americans.

Breaking: options per ATF for citizens with brace-equipped firearms affected by today's Rule 2021R-08F: 1. Replace your short barrel with a 16" barrel 2. Register your firearm as an SBR 3. Dispose of/destroy the pistol brace 4. Turn your firearm in to ATF 5. Destroy your firearm
