Is there a plan to remove the lock (secure) icon? on the basis that phishing sites can use HTTPS; meaning the connection is secure, but the website isn’t :-)

This is something we'd like to do eventually but don't have a timeline for yet. Will take some research/analysis to understand the effects.

No, we currently show it under certain circumstances (user enters data, Incognito mode) but not all the time on HTTP sites. July that will change.

Was there any analysis of "UI blindness" done? This is my fear for us to ship the same.

yes, certainly. this was the primary reason we didn't do this 5 years ago. we believe https usage will be high enough by july that this will be OK.

some of us don't know or aren't willing to pay for a secure site for personal use. This is dumb if nothing is encrypted
