47 minutes into call with Verizon trying to add my mom to my account. One highlight so far: being told that the PIN already used 3X on this call tonight is expired. From overuse, I guess.

I think the last woman, who claimed to be a supervisor named Deborah Matheos) dumped me into perma-hold black hole. There was a moment of levity when she suggested Verizon didn't have records from 6 months ago. She wasn't happy when I told her how long VZ keeps phone records.

Now Tiffany B says the PIN isn't working again. I can't do anything unless I change the PIN that has been invalidated by overuse tonight, bc VZ can't get a basic thing done w/o 8 people.

1:23 now. Mom's still not on my account and now I have no pin, bc Verizon's idea of security is to cancel it when they overuse it.

Text message: This confirms your PIN was changed. If you didn't request this change call us by dialing 611 from your VZW phone. Which means they've changed my pin without authorization. Precisely the opposite of secure.

My brother (i'm out at nephew's graduation w/mom and bros) brought out an extension cord so my battery doesn't run out on this ONE CALL.

Did I tell you all that for whatever reason VZ reps keep asking me to repeat stuff. "Can you hear me now?" I kid you not.

Now my brother's on. Can you hear me? Yeah, can you hear me?

Then things started getting interesting--asking senior mom for her passwords. We need a better system for seniors to have workable comms.

So... 8 people later, Tiffany B was at least very helpful, unlike the 7 other people I spoke with. But ... we failed. Plus now I have no pin.

Also, 1 hour 59 minutes. I fell just short of 2 hours on the phone to achieve nothing when I should be visiting my family. "Friends and Family plan"

NO NO NO NO Phone number Portability has been around for decades. You are supposed to keep your phone number, wherever you move in U.S. That obviously means different regions, so different RBOCs/whatevers, so different service providers. That RBOC sounds nuts, tonight.

Bullshit. Porting a phone number is childs' play. There's literally an intermediary between all cell carriers that does nothing but this.
