Remember, the unmasking pseudo-scandal is largely a response to the fact that Susan Rice wanted to know why Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan snuck into NYC w/o alerting State. That's probably one thing that led to discovery of Don Jr's collusion with those *other* oligarchs.
In other words, Nunes' manufactured unmasking scandal was about hiding collusion.
How did he know to create that faux outrage?
Let's not forget that Erik Prince testified that he discussed this very scandal with Devin Nunes before his testimony to House Intel. Sure looks like they needed to know what the investigators knew to avoid immediately getting caught in a lie.
