Watching a preview of "Carriers At War" on Smithsonian Channel. Aircraft carriers are quite amazing things, as are the personnel that staff them.

There’s also USS Carter - not a carrier, but a nuclear submarine. Named after Jimmy Carter, who was a navy officer and in fact served on submarines. (not everybody knows/remember that fact, what with his peacenik image and all!)

George W was in the National Guard, dunno if that counts. It's more that no president has served in any war since the Korean War. Even though Vietnam was a major part of the national experience, we've never had a president that served there.
