I'd like someone to write about the Congress reckoning with torture. President Bush, CIA Directors and the Bush Justice Department all acknowledged their roles. The Congress pretends they are pure. That it was a simple decision and they always came down on the right side.

For better or worse, they argue they were misled in briefings. So does the Senate report. People like Mudd, who say they were briefed, ought to provide proof.

Ask for the memos to be declassified. We break the law if we provide proof.

Actually the memos have been declassified, John. They show that CIA talked Pat Roberts into shutting down the investigation that Bob Graham had started in 2002.

They also document that Michael Hayden had been briefed on things that he went on to lie about to Congress in 2007.

They also show deceptive answers to Jane Harman. Again--these are CIA's own MOUs of the briefings, not Congress'.
