Repeating here: Gina Haspel's excuses for destroying the torture tapes all insist that CIA cables are all the record anyone would need of CIA's actions. If so, then the CIA has to retract all their complaints abt the SSCI Torture Report, which relies on cables.
I know CIA usually gets to have things all the ways they want, but they really should not be permitted to here. For 3.5 years, CIA has been wailing that cables are inadequate info for what CIA has done. If so, then Haspel should not have destroyed the tapes.
And anybody who has been anywhere near cia, state, etc. knows that cables are the whitewashed version of everything. All the real debate and decisionmaking happens outside the cable system.
