Aside from the fact that this is from Strassel, who's a raving nutjob, consider what the GOP has argued in recent weeks. 1) FBI should have warned Trump that his campaign was infiltrated w/suspected RU CI problems 2) FBI should have done nothing else about themhttps://twitter.com/ChuckRossDC/status/994731844095668224 …

Because that is pretty much where the GOP is at now: No one who once served on a POTUS campaign can be investigated as suspected spy targets even after they leave the campaign.

Depends on whether or not there is significant probable cause. What I’ve seen so far doesn’t rise to the level of a Democrat inserting a mole into a Republicans campaign etc. If it turns out to be legit, so be it, I’ll change my mind.
-
Sorry. You're inventing a detail there. "Inserting a mole into a Republicans campaign." And MOST of what is know is after people left the campaign. Again, post-campaign. Bc FBI waited.
-
So honestly, you are affirmatively adopting "let's not investigate Russian spying anymore because they're targeting Republicans."
-
I said that if there is adequate evidence then investigate away. Your opponent paying a foreign spy for third hand rumors doesn’t amount to enough evidence in my book.
-
Well, as it happens, the person in question had been a CI concern for 3 years by then. 3 years. So that's not why it happened.
-
And you know what intelligence is? Always? Rumors? Is that fucking news to you? Is the problem here that GOPers are just fucking naive about how spying works? Even the ones who oversee it?
-
Do you similarly call for all drug defendants to be released bc they're also found the same way? You want to empty the prisons bc informants were used to fill them? Then do it. But do it consistently. Not just for some twerp who nosed into the Trump campaign.

I’ve lost the thread.
