      Orin's analysis may be right, but I'd say it makes the CFAA looks worse than Don Trump Jr. As all the lefty tech groups would be saying if the case didn't involve a Trump.

      I don’t quite see why. Why should this be legal? I thought it was shared ground that using another’s pw w/o permission was a no-no, if just a misdemeanor.

      What Donald Trump Jr apparently did was the most natural thing in the world. He logged on to see if the information he'd been given was true. So the CFAA criminalizes normal human conduct despite a lack of harm or ill intent. Hard to call that a great moment in jurisprudence.

      It kills me to say this, but I’m with Stewart. This is a crime in the same way that turning a doorknob is a crime when somebody tells you the bank door is unlocked. The crime should be based on what you do next. Which *even your* argument emphasizes.
