Correct protocol would be for Alexander Downer to report Pap chat w his Australian foreign ministry, who would inform ASIS (their equivalent of MI6), who would inform US Intel via Five Eyes FBI would then open Downer as Confidential Human Source (CHS) Not clear if that happened

Even if none of that happened, it doesn't mean the Papadopoulos information isn't true. It might be, Downer could have reported it directly to the US Embassy, for example. Peter Strzok texts strongly suggest he met with Downer on Aug 2 in London

Nunes’ cavalier attitude to intel which he has privileged access to is surely setting precedents which are not helpful for US going forward, internally and externally. Will not inspire trust in other agencies to share sensitive info

Why are Nunes/Trump trying to discredit how the investigation started? A lot of evidence subsequently has been gathered and people have pleaded guilty. Does that just disappear?

They can't acknowledge that any part of the investigation or its results are worth taking seriously, because that gives too much ground. Their case rests on the idea that the whole thing is a fraud. Like the dossier.
