Has Manafort's bail been finalized yet?
afaik no, he's still on house arrest. his bail hearings keep going badly... can't post bail using properties bought with stolen money
does anyone believe he is a flight risk? Is 10m bail unreasonable?
I live in a country where such a bail demand would be considered absurd.
Yes, he should be considered a flight risk, and that bail is not unreasonable given the amounts of money in the Ukrainian black ledger. The whole accusation of money laundering makes his claims unreliable, even with a presumption of innocence.
sincere friendly suggestion: /u/PoppinKREAM on reddit has really good analysis, w/ linked sources on new developments & pieces a lot of what is known together-https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/8dgh36/manafort_suspected_of_serving_as_back_channel_to/ …
Sure he would. The American taxpayer would like the million$ back that @realDonaldTrump & his corrupt cabinet have wasted.
He needs access to his money to pay for his defense, but no more.
A guy who's charged with stealing a car doesn't get to sell the car to pay his bail. Manafort can scrape by without access to his dirty cash.
It's called bail?
Just wait until the economy tanks. Trump's stimulus package will be to let all the people from his administration and campaign out on bail have their money so they can go on a spending spree before they go to jail. It'll be called felonious Keynesianism.
Bail? Since when?
Wasn't there a bizarre SC decision about defendants' access to funds for defense counsel? IIRC, Kagan wrote the maj decision that PC was good enough to deprive funds for counsel, and Roberts called BS on it.
Pobrecito.
Crikey.
I am reminded of the Chappelle's Show skit in this regard.
