I'm not a fan of effing Theresa May at all, but why should double statehood only have benefits, no downsides at all? There's an easy remedy for those at risk: They simply should decide for one country and hand back the other citizenship. Just end that legal & ethical ambiguity!

That IS how the real world works. There's people who want to cherrypick the benefits of two countries, but that option also creates the possibility that one government may simply kick them out. They won't become stateless, after all.

No, it really isn't. Are you aware that if a person is born to a US citizen in another country - they are automatically a US citizen and a citizen of the country they were born in? How in the world is that person 'cherry picking'? Don't be daft.

My point was about legal & ethical issues associated with dual citizenship. Don't be daft, can't you see the problems that arise when someone is subject to two different set of laws, that may contradict each other? That's especially critical in a case of conflicts b/w nations.

Those folks can renounce this automatic citizenship, and many do, because the US demand taxes from citizens even when living abroad. Anyway, imho the reasonable policy should be for kids w/ dual citizenship options to decide when becoming 18.

'Many do'...that is patently absurd - and I think if you were one bit intellectually honest you would either admit it, or be willing to share a citation of such an assertion. Neither of which I believe your ego is capable of, so - be well.
